We dig fossil fish in Kemmerer each summer! The weather is a little warm from 1-3pm but otherwise it’s a delightful time of year to spend in Kemmerer, Wyoming. We’ve made some wonderful friendships in the area, and love doing the summer “Oyster Ridge Festival” in Kemmerer! The Festival is the last weekend in July each year.

There’s plenty of music and fiddle & guitar contests and also venders! Here’s Charlie a good friend of ours whom is selling his fossils at the fair along with Art McCollum and myself {Gail} selling our minerals. We share a booth together each July during the festival. Great fun for the weekend and the town square “rocks” till midnight. We stay open till the crowd thins out about 11pm.

A good little book on the Green River Formation.

I must give credit to the information on this page to this wonderful little book I picked up at the Fossil Butte Museum! It is loaded with pictures of the area and maps and of course, on all the fish, plant live and animals found in the GRF.

As we travel and do different shows teachers, parents and interested fossil collectors always want additional information on their purchases. This is one of the best and most concise books on this locality that I’ve found. I recommend it highly, It makes the perfect gift accompaniment to any fossil given to someone from this area! I paid $10.99 for my book.
